In the Moors, Nina Milton cover
The rain-drenched moors near shamanistic counselor Sabbie Dare's home have become the scene of a chilling crime. When Detective Sergeant Reynard Buckley shows up suggesting her new client, Cliff Houghton—a wounded, broken man—has something to do with the body of a young boy found buried in the moors, Sabbie believes Cliff is being set up. Continuing the therapy she'd begun with Cliff, Sabbie uncovers repressed memories hearkening back to a decades-old string of abductions and murders. But after another boy is abducted, only Sabbie can prove Cliff's innocence . . . and find the real culprit before any more lives are shattered.

Nina Milton was born, educated and has raised her two children in the watery city of Bristol, but is now on the way to Wales to grow her own veg with her husband, James. She is a prize-winning short story writer, and the author of several children’s books. Nina has an MA in creative writing, and works as a tutor and writer for the Open College of the Arts.

Murder in England ... I guess I stopped reading there and knew I had to read this book. But no lets read the of that synopsis too just to be on the safe side. A shamanistic counselor... okay I get the idea but would that be something for me?
Thankfully Sabbie is a woman with an attitude and an understanding that there are people in the world who have a hard time grasping the whole shaman thing. I really enjoyed her and the way she approached things. She did make some OH NO YOU'RE NOT!! decisions though which made me want to slap her in the face.
Rey was a detective of the kind I like. I would have loved to know more about him and see some of the things trough his eyes.
The story itself is dark and a little depressing but it fits. There are missing children which is always brings a bit of a bitter taste. It is obvious Cliff is really nervous and anxious about all that is happening and his jitters made me feel nervous too. The story development is done nicely though and there where not a lot of things that felt out of touch, I guess those that did had more to do with my skeptic attitude towards the shaman thing.

Sounds creepy! But I have to say the same that in the previous comment: I would like to choose carefully and, as I think we share the taste in readings, I won't pick up this one.
